FMP W2 (Research) DAY 2/3

Yesterday I visited Bath it was very interesting and by far my favourite exhibition that I have seen. There were several rooms full of garments !
From the exhibition visit i managed to take loads of photos and i was able to listen to a tour guide about the garments and the history behind them. I bought a little book from the gallery as this had many useful images inside which can help me when researching/ developing.
Today I decided to scan a few images from the book and i focused on the detailing and the making of the bodice/ garment. I a few sample ideas, two smocked bodices as i was trying different techniques to tighten the waitst and then i decided to look into decaying flowers, as florals are seen alot on the garments. I don't feel anything was unsuccessful; however the only negative that  I have was maybe my layout could have been a little bit better..  If i was to revisit this I would change the layout of my page, but that's just me being fussy!
I will incorporate the textile ideas and develop these more greatly later on. I like the floral concept, especially capturing it dying as i could relate this to the brothers grimm fairytales of the dark nature behind them.
Next I am going to go back and develop the grimm side of things looking at surrealist art to inspire me.

My peers gave me alot of useful advice, they asked questions like 'How am I going to make it not look costume based' and 'Who was my target audience.' This was very useful as my aim is to take something like the 18th century and to make it not seem costume based, in order to suceed in this matter is to do alot of developing involving the stand- as this will give me new shapes/ silhouette ideas. The target audience will be for RTW S/S  collection for adults/ teens. It's great having promotion students in my tutor group as questions like this always help me to question myself about where i am heading.
