Today was tricky to begin as I was uncertain of how to start my new sketchbook (this is always quite daunting!)
So I decided that I would start with the brothers grimm side of the project and look at the images that i had taken at the Dulwich Gallery (David Hockneys sketches) and I was intrigued by the Rapunzel image that he done. I was interested by the shapes in the image of the drawing that he did; after long and hard thinking of how to develop this image, I concluded that my strongest point to help me develop ideas is on the stand. I extracted the shape (triangular top; roof) from the image and took thin stripes of paper from my arts box and replicated the shape onto the stand several times. After doing so I started to feel it was becoming a bit repetitive so I decided to stop and load the photos onto photoshop and begin to play with the images once more, repeating the lines to make new stand work. I felt the stand work worked well and the image I chose was very useful for this task that i done because i was able to make a simple shape into a complex shape/s as seen in the images. The only thing from today that I dont think was successful was the amount of work i produced, and that tomorrow i will need to pick up the pace. However, as always it takes me a while to settle into things and then when i know what im doing i will be on a roll.... Hopefully that'll be soon!
Overall, today i never planed my day to be how it turned out, I thought that I was to gather the images and select the best. Although unexpectedly i've started developing the images on the stand, which i know will help me later later on in the project; when i start designing etc.
Tomorrow i'm going to develop the witch image from David Hockneys exhibition as that was another one of my favourites, I'm not too sure how I will develop that image yet, but hopefully tomorrow i will have some ideas in mind!
