Main concept board.
Deconstruction was an interesting project, it took me out of my comfort zone and I had to go straight to designing garments on a person, distorting the clothes and making them not the norm. At the start I thought that this would prove difficulty but I proved myself wrong and I found it quite interesting and came up with three successful photos from the styling. I then took my clothes which i choose and cut them up and formed different garments on a stand, not representing there original form. This was my strongest part as i feel i am very confident working on the stand and it enables me to come up with interesting design ideas when needed.
After this project I then moved onto gathering images from magazines and scanning the materials of the garments and collage them on a model- keeping in mind the whole deconstruction theme and placing a top for a skirt or shoulder pad for example. I produced 10 final ourcomes and thought that they all told there own story and had there own qualities. I decided to use them all on my board, after struggling for a while in which ones to choose.
Following this i was able to gather some interesting shapes that i could put forward into my design development. I chose the most prominant colours which were reds and blues and put them forward to my designs. I liked the idea of the sports bra when i was doing the styling so i put this forward on to my design sketches.
After doing this i then wanted to experiment shape with colour with mix media so i used water colours, pastels, and collage.
From doing the planning i realised that i wanted to develop and deconstruction a suit as i felt that it had many qualities.
From the planning I realised that the sports bra was one of my favourite ideas so i collaborated it onto the lining of the suit jacket. I felt that this project has taught me to experiment with different materials and different garments in order to produce something more interesting.
