3 words (Nick Knight, grotesque and twist.)

Having chosen to work in the 3 words project I researched 3 words that had no relation to one another. I chose photographer Nick Knight as he works with fashion as well as nature. I thought that the word grotesque could add a different affect on Nick Knight as well as chosing the word twist (however not taking it literally.)
Starting off with I produced several boards in order to gather images from the library.
This was my first board, focusing widely on Nick Knights photography.

I then focused again on Nick Knights work, but mainly on the impact of human identity and how he has interpreted it. Focusing on the prominent colours of deep reds and blacks.

I then developed the word gore and looked into the body malfunction and the way that it can distort our views. I also looked at the gargoyles and artists from there views on the word.

After developing the gore aspect i moved onto twist. I didn't want to take the word literally so i looked into the way the body can move and shapes developed within dancing and contortionists.
From researching the main points of the words i then furthered my research and looked into the words into more detail.
Starting with the grotesque word i went out and bought a lambs heart and looked at the way the colours were shown and the detail in the heart and how this could be manipulated onto a garment. After doing so I also took the ribs as well and developed this into body shapes of a silhouette.
From this I decided to take away the fashion concept and developed prints on the body by using makeup to make cuts and gores.

Following this I then developed twist looking into the way the body can move in order to make a silhouette on a garment.

After i then started to work on the stand bearing in mind having the 3 words in mind

After doing stand work with paper I wanted to have a move visual feel of how the material will fall on the stand.

I then decided to do some quick sketches of some garments keeping the words in mind. i didnt want any girly/ pretty garments. So i made sure they were very sketchy and rough.
Following all the development and research I came up with my final collection.

These two weeks i learnt how to structure my time, to do alot of research in order to be able to follow through for the next week, and i also learnt how to develop more with colour and stand work.
