Culture (Aboriginal and Nepal)

We were then set the task of a three week project of our own chosen culture. I decided that it would be interesting to explore the Aboriginals and the way that they use body paint in ceremonies as a way of expressing themselves. I thought that a collaboration of the Nepali women would be a good blend as they use accessories and golden jewels to show there wealth and daily beliefs. I researched greatly in books from the library so that i gathered a lot of research not depending on the internet. Furthering my research I visited several museums in London to broaden my knowledge. From this research I then created my concept board.
I developed the concept of the Aboriginals first by using the body art as a form of a silhouette of a garment, I believe that I exhausted this idea and i came up with several amount of garment ides; from rough ideas, to initial designs, to development.

At first I wasn't so keen on my idea and I wasn't sure whether I was going to produce a substantial amount of work for this project however having overcome this and developed ideas on the stand to help me gather new ideas i was able to overcome this barrier.
After developing the concept of the Aboriginals I then focused on the Nepal women. I used the jewels as a way of embellishing the garment, keeping the same garment shapes- just adding an embellishment on them.

Having produced 200 garment ideas i feel that i exhausted my concept and i feel that the work that i produced proved me wrong and that when i set my mind to a task i can produce a good amount of work.
Having produced front and back flats and illustrations I feel that I have developed my planning and timing of the project in order to meet the deadline and I have ensured that I have applied lots of colour in order to add the vibrant that the two cultures obtain.
