For my final major project I will be researching the Brothers Grimm fairy tales looking into the true historical meaning of the stories in which they used to teach morals and meanings to children around the time. I will also combine this with the 18th century fashion which was around the same time in which the Grimm brothers wrote there dark stories. My aim is to develop both concepts and merge the two together to come up with several design ides which will help me to further into a final garment idea. Of course I will face some difficulties along the way such as time scheduling and assuring that i meet my own set deadlines. I am seeking to develop my design ideas and my development strategy as well as my skills for making a professional garment. The practical methods i am seeking to develop are my sampling with material and testing out several ideas on the stand to inspire my initial designs. The form of my final piece will be illustration and a final garment with a photo shoot. I will research in libraries and visiting several exhibitions which will help me gather inspiration for my design ideas. The 18th century will be researched in great deal from the V&A as i will look at the fashion garments and gather the inspiration to collaborate with the Brothers Grimm. Primary and secondary research will be a vital part of my research stage as this will help me to push to my full potential when designing my garments.
